My name is Winda Nur Cahyo, and welcome to my website. In this website, I will provide information about Industrial Engineering (Teknik Industri). As known, engineering is a field that result artifacts. Machine Engineering’s artifacts are machines; Civil Engineering builds buildings, houses, bridges, etc. But some people questioning what resulted by Industrial engineering? In My opinion, the artifacts of an Industrial Engineer are systems. Industrial engineering is an engineering that focused on designing, installing and improving an integrated system that consists of its elements such as: man, machine, material, information and energy. So that, in every system that consists at least one of these elements, and Industrial Engineer can involved in.



There are some hesitancy related with Industrial Engineering and the prospect of the alumnus of this engineering field, both regarding with the focus of this field and appropriate position for the alumnus. These hesitancies could be answered if the focus of this field is well explained. The general focus of studying in engineering is to learn about creating artifacts. Artifact is stuffs created by human intelligent to improve the quality of human life. For example, civil engineering is creating buildings, houses, bridges, etc. Mechanical engineering focus on developing appropriate machine for special purposes, so are the other engineering has its own artifacts. But what is the artifact for an industrial engineering? According to the definition of Industrial Engineering by AIIE, I can conclude that the artifact o industrial engineering is systems. Systems itself has elements such as men, machines, materials, information, and energy. So, the artifacts or work field of an industrial engineering is an integrated system. Hence, systems are important for improving the quality of human life such as government system, service system, manufacturing system, etc, it is a potential prospect for an industrial engineers. What make systems so important? The quote of Mensius can be he answer.

And, about my self, I was graduated from Department of Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Industrial Technology Islamic University of Indonesia Yogyakarta at September, 2000. My Master Degree gained from Department of Electrical Engineering (Computation and Information Systems), Gadjah Mada University Yogyakarta at April 2006. In this field, I focused on System Simulations, and Decision Support and Expert Systems. In Industrial Engineering, this focused are important for supporting decision maker to make an appropriate decisions, making more effective and efficient decision.

I dedicate this website in order to support the development of Industrial Engineering and Management Science. For students and my lecturer colleagues, I provide some lecture material especially for the subject which I involve in, also I provide some articles, useful links, and other stuff related with Industrial Engineering. And of course, as a personal website, my activities, my thought, my experience an so on will be presented in either new or blog. Please enjoy the website and hope you find useful information here.
